People usually search for Seeking Alpha's refund rules after a charge has already appeared. We would rather you read this before. The company's position, repeated in its knowledge base and in Article 20 of its Terms of Use, is that subscription fees are not returned unless a different arrangement has been made in writing. Ending a plan stops it from renewing; it does not undo a payment that has already gone through.
So the real skill is not asking for money back. It is managing dates. Here is everything we found in the firm's own documents in October 2026, written in plain language.
Try first, pay later
Premium opens with a free week for newcomers; stay on and year one is $269 (list $299).
Begin the free week →The core principle
Payments, once taken, stay taken. The terms phrase it this way: after your first paid period begins, the company does not refund initial orders or recurring payments. That covers annual and monthly plans alike.
You can leave whenever you like
There is no lock-in on cancelling. You can switch off any plan at any time. What changes is when it takes effect: at the close of the billing cycle you have already paid for. Until that date your access continues as normal. Every plan renews automatically if you do nothing.
Free trials: the one-day rule
A free trial is the cheapest insurance you will ever get. Two details matter. First, the terms require you to cancel no later than one day before the trial expires, not on the last day itself. Second, each person gets a single free trial per product for life; sign up a second time and you are billed immediately. The account settings page shows your trial end date, next bill and renewal amount, so check it on day one.
Newcomers arriving through an existing member's invite link get fourteen days rather than seven.
Paid trials are not free trials
Some products, including PRO at times, are offered through a low-cost introductory period instead of a free one. The knowledge base is explicit that this introductory fee is not refundable and that the plan moves to its normal price unless stopped before the introductory period finishes. Treat it as a small purchase.
The single written exception
Investing Groups, the analyst-led communities on the platform, carry a 30-day limited money-back promise, but only under narrow conditions:
- It applies to annual Investing Group plans only.
- It applies only the first time you join that particular group.
- Cancel within the first 30 days and you receive back the unused eleven months.
- The terms require cancellation at least one day before the 30-day window closes.
- Monthly group plans are excluded.
- Lower-priced services, such as Investing Group Basic or newsletter-style products, have no trial and no guarantee; they are charged up front.
Premium, Alpha Picks and PRO are not covered by this promise on any page we read. More background in our Investing Groups guide.
When the company ends your plan
The terms also state that if a subscription is cancelled because the subscriber breached the rules, no refund is due.
Thinking about Alpha Picks?
List $499 a year; our offer link showed $449 in October 2026. It is non-refundable, so read how it works first.

Annual plan, early regret. You pay for a year in February and stop using it in April. You cancel in April, keep using it until next February, and receive nothing back.
Missed trial. You start the free week on a Saturday and forget. The following Saturday a year is billed. Under the policy that charge stands.
Investing Group, first time, annual. You join a dividend group in June, decide by day 18 it is not for you, cancel, and receive the remaining eleven months back.
How to cancel cleanly
Log in, click your avatar, open Account Settings and use the subscriptions panel. If plans are hidden, press "Show Details". The terms also accept an email to subscriptions@seekingalpha.com. Save the confirmation. Separate steps for each product are in our cancellation guide and the Alpha Picks version.
iPhone purchases follow Apple's rules
If you bought inside the iOS app, Apple processes the payment. Cancel through your Apple ID subscriptions, and any refund request goes through Apple's system rather than Seeking Alpha's.
Billing mistakes
Nothing in the written policy promises a refund for errors, but a support channel exists. Email the subscriptions address above, or phone the number printed on the company's price-update notices, 1-347-509-6837. Include your invoice and act quickly. Any goodwill gesture is at the firm's discretion.
A three-reminder system
- Midway through any trial: ask whether you have actually used the product.
- Two days before a trial ends: cancel if the answer is no.
- Two weeks before an annual renewal: review usage and decide deliberately.
These three calendar entries prevent almost every unwanted charge we hear about.
Monthly or annual, the rule is the same
Monthly billing does not unlock refunds either; it simply shortens the period you are committed to. If flexibility matters more than price, read our billing comparison.
Who should pause before subscribing
If you regularly forget renewal dates and dislike automatic billing, set reminders first or remain on the free Basic plan.
Questions to ask yourself before starting any trial
Do I have at least five free evenings in the next week? Do I know which stocks I will test it on? Have I written the trial end date somewhere I will see it? Will I remember that a paid period cannot be clawed back? If any answer is no, wait until it is yes. A trial started at the wrong moment is the most common route to an unwanted charge, and under these rules there is rarely a way to undo it afterwards.
Key takeaway
Plan around dates, not refunds, and you will rarely need the policy at all.
